Tuina Fundamentals: The theory, technique and exploration of specific conditions using this TCM form of massage (approved for 40 CEUs)

Tuina is a modality of traditional Chinese medicine that uses the arms, hands, fingers, knees and elbows for the treatment of illness and disease as well as to maintain and promote health. In a tuina treatment, the therapist manipulates the body stimulating acupuncture points to correct physiological imbalances and regulated the body’s energy or qi.

Tuina is useful in treating soft tissue injuries, blood circulation issues, rheumatic pain, fatigue, and any symptoms caused by stress or emotional problems.

This 80 hour introductory course to tuina massage will give therapists of any modality an additional treatment tool that they can easily incorporate into their practice. The course will be divided into two parts. The first part of the course will teach the rational and proper technique of tuina massage including Qi-gong. Students will become proficient in these techniques through in-class practical work and small homework assignments.

The second portion of the course will introduce a number of common conditions that clients present. Each condition will be introduced and the protocol and sequence of technique will be demonstrated, taught and then practiced in a hands-on environment.

  • acute lower back pain

  • chronic lower back pain
