What is Student Teaching Clinic?

The Shiatsu School of Canada operates Shiatsu, Acupuncture and Chinese Herb Teaching Clinics. Treatments are offered throughout the year to the public (except for school holiday times) by our Diploma Program students and are supervised. These treatments have been used to help maintain good health, to prevent ill-health, and to treat avariety of conditions including headaches, neck and shoulder  tension, insomnia, fatigue, digestive problems, constipation, and stress. 

Patients are to bring or wear their own loose fitting clothing for treatments and should arrive a few minutes early.

 

 

ACUPUNCTURE STUDENT CLINIC INFORMATION:

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture Student Clinic:

Students treating the Traditional Chinese Acupuncture student clinic have completed the theoretical portion of their training (2000 hours) and have been working on one another in a clinic environment. At this time, students begin treating various clients and build upon their knowledge and experience by treating a variety of issues such as: lower back pain, stress, headaches/migraines, menopause, menstrual pain, digestion issues, constipation, insomnia and abdominal pain (just to name a few).

Students work in groups of three or less and are closely supervised by highly trained professional instructors.

This clinic is ideal for those who would like to try acupuncture for the first time and are interested in learning more about their body's condition from an eastern therapeutic perspective.

The clinic operates on the following dates::

Thursdays: 6:15pm and 8pm
Sundays: 10:15am, 11:45am, 2:30pm and 4pm

Single Treatment:    $20.00 +tax

Japanese Acupuncture Student Clinic:

Japanese acupuncture student clinic consists of acupuncturists studying a specialized form of acupuncture. All students work during the day in a professional clinic and have chosen to advance their training in this post graduate clinic.

Treatments are done on a one on one basis with a professional acupuncturist studying at a post graduate level. Each treatment is 1.5 hours in length.

Japanese acupuncture is extremely effective in treating a variety of ailments such as lower back pain, stress, headaches/migraines, hormones, digestion issues, constipation, insomnia, addictions, colds/ flu, lack of direction, irritability and emotional distress (just to name a few).

The Japanese post-graduate acupuncture student teaching clinic operates:
May - December 2013. Mondays  6:15pm, 6:30pm, 8pm and 8:15pm

Single Treatment:    $30.00 +hst

 **Please arrive at least 15 minutes early if it is your first appointment in this clinic**

 

Other Student Clinics:

The shiatsu student teaching clinic operates on Wednesdays only.
10:15AM, 12:15PM, 2:45PM and 4:30PM
 

Please note that there is a $20.00 cancellation fee for missed appointments or appointments that are cancelled on the same day.

Code of Ethics Followed in the Student Clinic at the Shiatsu School of Canada Inc.

1. Every client shall be treated equally and truthfully without discrimination with regard to sex, race, religion, or political belief.

2. The well being of the client is the student therapist's chief concern and the student therapist will not negligently do anything to endanger their well being.

3. The confidentiality and dignity of the client shall be respected.

4. The client has the right to accept or refuse any form of treatment and to be advised to the nature of the treatment to be given.

5. The student therapist shall not refuse or withdraw his/her services without justifiable cause.

6. The student therapist shall ensure that his/her professional conduct is above reproach.

7. The student therapist shall not take physical, emotional, nor financial advantage of the client.

8. The student therapist shall strive to continually improve his/her knowledge and professional skills.

9. The student therapist shall encourage and educate the client to the best of his/her knowledge in the development of a healthy lifestyle.

10. The student therapist shall not recruit any client from school clinic nor from school or show functions.

11. The student therapist shall always clearly identify his/herself as a student whether in school or outside of school.

12. Students are not allowed to set up private shiatsu/acupuncture practice outside of school while training at SSC.
