Streamlined Acupuncture Program
Tuition and Exemptions:

2000hr Specialized Program: fast track program for RMTs and ALL other healthcare professional

Course Length: 2000 hours - 495 of potential exemptions in Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, First Aid and Practice Management*= 1505 hours with potential exemptions however 2000 hours of accredited acupuncture training.


Next Start Date:
April 2012, or September 2012 with the following single course:

Fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Applications for this class are currently being accepted!

This course can be taken as a stand alone course or as part of the full Fast track Acupuncture Diploma Program for Healthcare Professionals.

Tip 1: If you have a goal of completing the full program registering for the full program now will reduce monthly payments because the months in which tuition is divided increases.

Tip 2: If you are not sure if you can commit to the full fast track program, you can register for the one Fundamentals of TCM course and then apply this course towards the full fast track diploma program on a later date. Please be sure to have your original transcripts sent into the SSC for review prior to choosing this option to ensure you will receive full exemption credits.


Fundamental classes end before September 2012, thus allowing students to advance their acupuncture studies rapidly on a part time basis.

*Please submit original transcripts prior to the April 2012 start date to insure you do qualify for exemptions in Human Anatomy and Human Physiology. This will allow you to confirm you are able to stay on track with your advanced studies of acupuncture in September 2012.

Possible Exemptions:

Practice Management and Communication Skills  (80 Hours)
The focus of the course is to help build and manage a successful practice. Topics include patient/practitioner communication skills, managing difficult patient situations, scope of practice, making appropriate referrals, insurance issues, resume writing, risk management and quality assurance.

Human Anatomy  (200 Hours)
Anatomy is the study of the structure and composition of cells, tissues and organs. Topics include the study of the systems of the body: skeletal, articular, muscular, lymphatic, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, endocrine and reproductive. The organization of the body systems and co-ordination of their functions are also discussed.

Human Pathology and Symptomology  (100 Hours)
Pathology is the study of how the body reacts to injury and the causes and processes of disease. Students learn about the processes of tissue repair; infectious diseases; and pathologies of the bone, muscle, and the major systems-respiratory, circulatory, nervous, gastrointestinal, reproductive, immunological and hormonal.

Human Physiology  (100 Hours)
Physiology is the study of the functioning of the human body. Cellular metabolism, thermo-regulation, bone-growth, muscle function, lymph flow, blood function, respiration, digestion, waste elimination, hormonal influences, reproduction, and nerve function are the main topics.

First Aid and CPR
Required to graduate from all Acupuncture Programs. Applicants can bring in up to date FIRST AID & CPR Certificate to confirm completion of this component of study or arrange to take this training outside of regular class time.

Possible tuition savings: 495 hours of exemptions = $3935.25 (+hst)

2000 hour Acupuncture Diploma Program Tuition Details:

Example for those who wish to be credited with 2000 hours of Acupuncture training:
RMTs trained in Ontario who are working towards a 2000 hour diploma in acupuncture because they wish to use the title 'acupuncturist' and be recognized by another separate regulatory committee; will receive 495 hours of exemptions (Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Practice Management and First Aid & CPR).

Exemptions may be subject to an exemption assessment fee (this does not apply to RMTs trained in Ontario).

Total Tuition with exemptions for the 2000 hours Specialized Acupuncture Diploma Program = $11,964.75(+hst)

Total Tuition without exemptions for the 2000 hours Specialized Acupuncture Diploma Program = $15,780.75 (+hst)

Optional Payment Plan for those who start  January 2012:
2000hr Credited Acupuncture Diploma Program:

Option 1:
Pay in full and save 10%
Total tuition = $11,964.75 (+hst) = $13,520.17 - 10% = $12,168.15

OR

Option 2:
39 equal Monthly Payment Plan INTEREST FREE!
Total tuition = $11,964.75 (+hst) = $13,520.17
$565 non refundable registration fee
due March 28, 2012 - this is deducted from tuition
 
Therefore:
$13,520.17 - $565 = $12,955.17 (hst)-- divided into 35 equal monthly payments from April 28, 2012 to February 28, 2015 = $370.14 ($327.156+hst)

 
Please note:
-Payments are due on the 28th of every month for 35 months.
-To participate in this payment plan option, please submit post-dated cheques dated for the 28th of each month. We unfortunately can not do this monthly payment options if we do not receive post-dated cheques prior to the start date of the program.

  • The Jing-Luo (Meridians and collaterals) System  (60 hours) starts: November, 2012

  • Acupuncture Point Location  (122 hours)
    Pre-requisite: Fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Human Anatomy, Physiology

  • Tuina (80 Hours)

  • Medical Qi Gong (45 Hours)

  • Oriental Medicine Diagnosis: OMD  (93 hours)

  • Differential Diagnosis  (35 hours) -- part of OMD

  • Biomedical Pharmacology  (45 Hours)

  • Clean Needle Technique  (16 Hours)

  • Acupuncture Technique  (100 Hours)

  • The Treatment of Disease  (170 hours)

  • Auricular acupuncture  (35 hours)

  • External Techniques (35 hours)

  • Eastern Nutrition - Prevention, Diet, Lifestyle (20 hours)

  • Western Medical Assessment (35 Hours)

  • Ethics of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine  (10 Hours)

  • Research Modalities  (4 Hours)

  • Clinical Acupuncture Practicum (500 hours)
