Description: This course introduces the core fundamentals of various eastern treatments related to both Shiatsu and Acupuncture.

After completing this foundations course, students can choose to continue their education and training through specialized diploma programs in: Shiatsu therapy, Acupuncture or Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

This course will introduce the historical and philosophical contexts, which Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is based upon. Topics will include the concepts and physiology of Qi (a central theme in Chinese medical theory), Blood and Body Fluids, Essence, Shen and Mingmen, Yin and Yang and the Five Elements. Other areas of study include: the etiology and pathology of TCM, along with physiology and functions of the Zhang-Fu Organs in relation to the whole body.

This course offers students the chance to develop a stronger foundational understanding of eastern medicine as well as knowledge required to move on to the next step in their education and training in eastern practice and treatments.

As students are introduced to the various concepts of eastern medicine, a greater sense of  balanced health, lifestyle and understanding of energies naturally develop. Thus making this single course; both an excellent general interest course and a course that aids in advancing your professional acupuncture training.
