Chinese Medicinal Diploma Program
Offered as a 1980 hour diploma program, courses start in April 2007 on a part-time evening/weekend basis. The curriculum is a balance of theory and practice and includes courses in both theory and practice including a supervised student clinic.

The Goal of Study
The program is designed to prepare students for a competent level of Chinese Herbal medicinal in clinical practice. Graduates of this program can expect to be able to practice this modality as a stand-alone service or along with their current discipline in a competent, confident and clinically effective manner.

Why study Chinese Medicinal Herbs at the Shiatsu School of Canada and SSC Acupuncture Institute?

  • Courses are taught by practicing professionals who have excellent academic qualifications and practical experience. Some instructors are diplomates of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) from the USA.

  • You will learn Chinese medicinal herbs as an adjunct to your present discipline or as stand-alone form of alternative healthcare.

  • Students will have 200 hours of practical hands-on, supervised Student Clinic.

  • Membership in The Canadian Society of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (CSCMA) and Traditional Chinese Medicine Physicians Association of Canada (TCMPAC).

  • Membership in the Shiatsu School of Canada Alumni Guild with benefits (business registry on Shiatsu School of Canada web site, newsletter, reduced seminar fees for school sponsored seminars, etc.)

  • Written, oral and practical exams that offer proof of your progress.

  • You will be studying in a school with 20 years experience in teaching complementary healthcare.

  • Textbook theory AND prescribing skills are emphasized.

  • The practice of Chinese medicinal herbs is less physically demanding than some other modalities, allowing the practitioner a needed change of pace.
